We use thermal imaging in the inspection field quite a bit. In fact, it is one of the most sought-after services for commercial and residential inspections. As we discussed in our last blog, though, there are many uses for thermal imaging – including medical uses. What is thermal imaging used for in the medical field?
We are not doctors, but there are many uses. Thermal imaging is used in several areas of medicine. It is used extensively for finding and treating tumors. Since it can see what the human eye can’t, it becomes invaluable in identifying issues in some patients.
It is used also to find infections. Since blood rushes to infections, using a thermal camera can help pinpoint issues before they become overly severe. It also, at times, helps limit the amount of exploratory surgery someone needs.
It can even be used for issues that are not quite as serious as the ones mentioned above. For instance, estheticians can use it to help treat skin issues, and even acne. Sports doctors use it to help identify and treat strained muscles and tissue.
These are just some of the many medical uses for infrared technology.
