When you call to book an appointment with us for an infrared scan of your entire home, you might be surprised that the time suggested will be late in the evening, preferably after sunset. While your first thoughts might be that we’re either booked solid all day or just don’t like getting up in the morning, neither of those are true. The fact is that right after sunset is the best time for many of the important readings that we do on your home.
When the sun sets everything starts cooling down. Your house has been hit by the sun all day, and depending on what material we are looking at, it will cool down at a different rate. This will help ascertain whether there is something that has high moisture content, since water will retain heat longer than other materials that your house is made from. If you have wet insulation, we can spot that. If you have rot or other moisture related damage to the wood in your home, that will show up, as well.
So, the next time you see a beautiful sunset, you might be thinking of getting your house scanned.
