While we have seen that there are many different things that can be accomplished with thermal imaging, it is also important to understand that thermal imaging has limitations. It is not going to magically tell the future, and interpretation of the data you receive from a thermal imaging scan of your home is just as important as the scan itself. Often it helps to see pictures side by side of the area in question with a regular camera, as well as, the thermal imaging camera. There are 3 things that are the most common applications of thermal imaging. Areas that are hot that shouldn’t, which is often a problem with appliances and electrical connections, or a leaking HVAC system, areas that are cooler than they should be due to lack of insulation or cracks in your walls, and moisture coming from leaks. Anything outside of these three areas can be helpful, but often needs the expertise of a trained person who can interpret the reading correctly.
