Power usage is a large part of the monthly bill for most of us, and it is important to find anything that could cost you a fortune over time. Thermal imaging can definitely be used to make sure that power isn’t wasted needlessly in your home.
Starting with your circuit breaker, a thermal image can help you identify circuits that have an unusually high load. If there isn’t any obvious reason for this, such as several major appliances being attached to that circuit, some more investigating might be needed. Next, getting thermal images of appliances that are connected to that particular circuit might reveal that one of them is the culprit. You can even disconnect the suspected appliance and go back to the circuit breaker to see what has changed. If it turns out that you have an appliance that is faulty, your safest bet is to have it serviced or replaced. If something is seriously wrong with the appliance, you are not only dealing with an unnecessary expense, it could even be a hazard for you and your family.
