Air conditioning is a major cost, both for private homes and businesses, especially when located in an area where they need to run for the larger part of the year due to high heat and humidity. It is in your best interest that your system runs at the highest efficiency, but how can you make sure of this in a simple, low-cost way?
The answer is – use thermal imaging.
There are many problems that can cause your air conditioning to run below peak efficiency, and thermal imaging can spot most of these. If you have a leak in your ducts, you can use thermal imaging to locate it. That way your system won’t be dumping large amounts of cool air into unused spaces.
You can also detect problems with the unit itself. For example, you can see if there is low refrigerant, leaking refrigerant or air pockets in the coils. You could also spot broken or bad connections in the wiring.
It can also be helpful to determine how long it takes for the equipment to reach a steady operating state.
