A tiled shower can be a beautiful thing, and if it is installed correctly, there shouldn’t be any problems with it. Unfortunately, not every contractor does his due diligence to make sure that there aren’t any leaks in your freshly tiled shower before he leaves your home. This could lead to costly water damage and complicated repairs.
The problem with a slow leak, however, is that it is very difficult to spot.
However, by using thermal imaging, you can catch the problem before it becomes a major issue. By letting water run in your shower for a longer period of time, and constantly monitoring the walls and ceiling underneath the shower, you can find out if there is a leak without having to open up the drywall and take a look.
Of course, if the problem is in a bad spot, it might be necessary to rip out the tiles to be able to repair the leak, but it will still be cheaper than dealing with the problem of long term water damage to your walls and subfloor.
