When looking to detect where energy is lost, a process of thermal imaging will normally take place and this will pick up on;
- heat loss in doors, windows, floors, ceilings, and walls
- compressor leaks in air conditioning system
- damage within a heating system
- damaged seals on double-paned windows
- any defects in the structure of a building that will lead to inefficiencies when it comes to energy
Furthermore, an infrared camera will also pick up on moisture so can locate;
- leaks in the roof that have the potential to cause serious damage
- leaks in the plumbing
- damaged or wet insulation
- any water found around penetrations or even within the foundations that has the potential to cause serious
- damage to the structure of a building
